A century ago Van Dams set out for "Where the love is".
They found the promised valley despite trials and sacrifices.
Their family grew in the light and love of the gospel.
They were blessed. Their pilgrimage was a success.
Today their children set out in search of Hukelum.
Thrilled as we walked where ancestors walked before.
We learned to love, found each other in our quest.

Thanks for posting this, Dawn. I wrote this the day we went to Heukelem during our trip to Holland in 1990. That was such a great trip. Gayle did an amazing job of organizing it. Lester Ann
