PS we are fine. We are missing Gayle and Lester Ann coming down though. I guess we have to be satisfied with Lauren and Nickee coming down on the 7th, 8th and 9th for Lauren playing soccer. Oh well, that is life. We are still on our diet and exercise program. We are staying about the same and I am happy about that. Well will scoot.

Taylor's Snowboarding

We also went to the local Ski Hill in Sparwood
to watch Taylor snowboard. She makes it look
so easy but she is swooshing down that hill very
fast. My camera was on a very fast setting.

Jordan is the Champion

The Tai Kwon Do tournament was really something.
There were kids there from All over BC, Alberta and
Saskatchewan. I have never seen so many kids
dressed in white in their bare feet, full of energy and
anticipation and ready to preform. They are all very
well behaved as that is part of their training. Jordan
won his age division and we were so proud of him.
Her he is with his trophy. He has been sleeping with
it ever since they put it in his hand.

And the winner is Jordan Nelson!!

Here he is during his fight. He is wearing the red
helmet.
Jordan with his teacher. He is quite an amazing man.
He is an 8th degree Black Belt. He is also a very accomplished
golfer. He he has been teaching kids for a very long time.
He was also Jordan's Uncle Troy's teacher.

The promised Snow Pictures.

Elder Scott came to our Stake Conference last fall and during the last session there had been someone asked to give the benediction. Before he got to the podium Elder Scott stood up and said he would like to act on an impression and he gave the closing prayer. During a very long and eloquent prayer he prayed for moisture for this area. We got moisture very quickly as there were few dry eyes in the building. Everyone joked about that but seriously this area has been suffering for want of moisture for about three years. But with all the snow we are getting over the past two months and the probably ten times more they are getting in the mountains, we know his prayer has been answered. We will have plenty of moisture and loads of irrigation water from the mountains for this summer.

New Ute: First Canadian?

Lauren Dudley lives in Las Vegas, Nevada...her parents are from the Alberta province in Canada. She has trained in both the Canadian provincial program and the US ODP. According to our research and depending on how she views it...Lauren could be the first Canadian to play for the Utes...More importantly, regardless of where she is from, Lauren is an outstanding defender.

Lauren plays center back. And she has all the qualities in her game that a center back needs...she is tough on the ground, great in the air, a good communicator, composed, and good on the ball.

Lauren has played for the Rebels Soccer Club and was coached for several years by former Ute, Amanda Schmutz. She is also a terrific student and will be a great addition.

Welcome to Lauren and her family!

This Week at the Jensen House

It has been kind of a whacky week here at the Jensen house. To start the week off we had Gaylene and Duane here on Monday so they could take her to the hospital first thing Tuesday morning for surgery. We were worried they wouldn't make it they closed the road to Sparwood on Sunday. A good blizzard came through and things were shut down. But they opened it again on Monday. Gaylene said the drive in was terrible but they made it. We were worried about them. That can be such a scarry road. But all turned out well for getting them here. Then at 4:30 a.m. Duane took Gaylene to the hospital to get ready for her surgery. She was supposed to go to the O.R. at 9:30 but her doctor was called away to do an emergency c-section. They finally got back to her and she went in about an hour and a half later. By 3:00 she was out of the recovery room and back to her room. She was supposed to come home on Wednesday but they kept her an extra day. (Thank goodness) I think that is just too fast for major surgery. She looked way better on Wed. than she did on Tuesday. (night and day better). Then she came home on Thursday. As soon as she got here she took her pain management pills and went to sleep for four hours. As soon as she woke up, they packed her in the car and headed for home. The kids had been staying with Jean and they were happy to get home with their mom. She is doing pretty well. She is still resting a lot. I hope she continues to do that so she can get a good start on getting better. I am going out there today as soon as I get home from church and will stay until Wednesday. She says she should be OK by then.

Gayle has gone to London, Ontario for manager's meetings. He left here yesterday at 2:00. We were worried about him getting there as the flights were not leaving Calgary for Toronto on Friday (There were bad storms in the Toronto area.) but by Saturday they had that under control. He didn't make it all the way to London last night though as they were an hour and a half getting out of Calgary after they boarded the flight. There was some water problem with the plane and they had to solve that before they left. So Air Canada put the passengers up in Toronto last night. Gayle called me at 7:30 this morning saying he had finally made it to London. So now he can settle in and watch the Super Bowl today all by himself. He likes it better that way. They have some meetings tonight then they get into it in earnest tomorrow. He will be home on Wednesday night. (That is if all goes well and the creek don't rise or we don't have a blizzard on one end of the trip for him.)

Our neighbors went away to Cancun last week. They asked us if we knew of someone who might shovel their walk for them. The kids who did ours last year moved so we didn't know of anyone. We said, "there probably won't be much snow. We can do it." Famous last words. They got home last night so we will probably have good weather now.

It was momentous week with President Hinckley passing away. What a giant of a man he was. It is comforting to know he is once again united with his beloved wife. Dawn made an interesting observation. She said I wonder who he will greet after he greets his wife and the Lord? Will it be Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, or Pres Benson or any of the modern day prophets. Or will he say hello to Nephi and compare dispensations, or Alma or Moroni, or Moses, or Adam, or Abraham or any of the prophets from the book of Mormon or Bible. It could be any or all of them. Makes for interesting conjectures, doesn't it. We watched the funeral most of yesterday afternoon. There were lots of shows about him on the BYU channel all day yesterday. It was great to review the history of his tenure as Prophet and President of the church. It certainly is the end of an era.

Last night was a big night for Ryan and his family. They honored him at the basketball game as it was their last game of the season and it will be Ryan's last year playing for them. They gave him a nice photo of him in action and some roses for Beth. I took lots of pictures and will post them later. After the game we all went over to Ryan and Beth's new house. They finally got into it. It is a beautiful home. It is great to see those young kids do so well.

Gotta run for now. I have to get ready for church now.
Everybody stay safe and keep warm. We love each and evry one of you.
Love
LA

Dear All, A whole week has past since I last wrote. Adam is still in Argentina and Dustyn is home. We are having a wonderful time. Today is Helen's Birthday and then we have Dawn and Paula and then we have Dawn's wedding aniversary. Happ birthday you two and HappyAnniversary, Dawn. Time flies when you are having fun I guess. Today is Pres Hinckley's funeral and so we are going to that. On Sunday we go to Don's for a Super Bowl Party. Last year Helen and Brad were here and went with us. Helen won one of the Superbowl things. I can't remember how much she won but it was around $100.00. Then on Monday we are going to to Arizona Opry. Bonnie and Harlan are going with us and the group from Valley Del Or'. Bonnie has gone to the temple with us two times. Dustyn, Shelbi and their father are supposed to be coming to see us some time this winter. Jessey is working. He is a working man now. Dustyn phoned the other night on Clifford's birthday to tell us that he has a job with Cardinal Bus lines, driving bus for 2 hours daily. He gets $20. an hour so we are happy for him. We can hardly wait for all them to come and then Gayle and LA are coming. Gayle is coming is see the baseball starts and get a hearing aide from Mexico. Glad we have something that brings them as we sure miss you all. Shirley and Ardell are getting married. Glad to have Ardell in our family. We love Shirley and anyone who loves her, we love also.

David wants to have a little get together at Scott's 1 year anniversary. We have ordered a tombstone. Brad's friend got us a deal at Southern Monument. We will let you know more about it when we have more information.

Thanks for all those who wrote Birthday Greeting to Clifford. It is so satsify to know that you are loved too.
