This Week at the Jensen House

It has been kind of a whacky week here at the Jensen house. To start the week off we had Gaylene and Duane here on Monday so they could take her to the hospital first thing Tuesday morning for surgery. We were worried they wouldn't make it they closed the road to Sparwood on Sunday. A good blizzard came through and things were shut down. But they opened it again on Monday. Gaylene said the drive in was terrible but they made it. We were worried about them. That can be such a scarry road. But all turned out well for getting them here. Then at 4:30 a.m. Duane took Gaylene to the hospital to get ready for her surgery. She was supposed to go to the O.R. at 9:30 but her doctor was called away to do an emergency c-section. They finally got back to her and she went in about an hour and a half later. By 3:00 she was out of the recovery room and back to her room. She was supposed to come home on Wednesday but they kept her an extra day. (Thank goodness) I think that is just too fast for major surgery. She looked way better on Wed. than she did on Tuesday. (night and day better). Then she came home on Thursday. As soon as she got here she took her pain management pills and went to sleep for four hours. As soon as she woke up, they packed her in the car and headed for home. The kids had been staying with Jean and they were happy to get home with their mom. She is doing pretty well. She is still resting a lot. I hope she continues to do that so she can get a good start on getting better. I am going out there today as soon as I get home from church and will stay until Wednesday. She says she should be OK by then.

Gayle has gone to London, Ontario for manager's meetings. He left here yesterday at 2:00. We were worried about him getting there as the flights were not leaving Calgary for Toronto on Friday (There were bad storms in the Toronto area.) but by Saturday they had that under control. He didn't make it all the way to London last night though as they were an hour and a half getting out of Calgary after they boarded the flight. There was some water problem with the plane and they had to solve that before they left. So Air Canada put the passengers up in Toronto last night. Gayle called me at 7:30 this morning saying he had finally made it to London. So now he can settle in and watch the Super Bowl today all by himself. He likes it better that way. They have some meetings tonight then they get into it in earnest tomorrow. He will be home on Wednesday night. (That is if all goes well and the creek don't rise or we don't have a blizzard on one end of the trip for him.)

Our neighbors went away to Cancun last week. They asked us if we knew of someone who might shovel their walk for them. The kids who did ours last year moved so we didn't know of anyone. We said, "there probably won't be much snow. We can do it." Famous last words. They got home last night so we will probably have good weather now.

It was momentous week with President Hinckley passing away. What a giant of a man he was. It is comforting to know he is once again united with his beloved wife. Dawn made an interesting observation. She said I wonder who he will greet after he greets his wife and the Lord? Will it be Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, or Pres Benson or any of the modern day prophets. Or will he say hello to Nephi and compare dispensations, or Alma or Moroni, or Moses, or Adam, or Abraham or any of the prophets from the book of Mormon or Bible. It could be any or all of them. Makes for interesting conjectures, doesn't it. We watched the funeral most of yesterday afternoon. There were lots of shows about him on the BYU channel all day yesterday. It was great to review the history of his tenure as Prophet and President of the church. It certainly is the end of an era.

Last night was a big night for Ryan and his family. They honored him at the basketball game as it was their last game of the season and it will be Ryan's last year playing for them. They gave him a nice photo of him in action and some roses for Beth. I took lots of pictures and will post them later. After the game we all went over to Ryan and Beth's new house. They finally got into it. It is a beautiful home. It is great to see those young kids do so well.

Gotta run for now. I have to get ready for church now.
Everybody stay safe and keep warm. We love each and evry one of you.
Love
LA
